The Hindu Business Line: October 08, 2009

New Delhi: MTS, mobile telephony services brand of Sistema Shyam TeleServices Ltd (SSTL) launched its CDMA services for the Delhi NCR circle on Thursday.

The company has come out with a tariff plan of per second billing called Power of One.

The launch in Delhi also coincides with the national rollout of its high-speed data services, MBlaze.

Mr Vsevolod Rozanov, President and Chief Executive Officer, SSTL, said that the brand’s USP is its high-speed data services. As an initial offer, the company would offer free browsing on five Web sites, Yahoo, Google, Wikipedia, Cricinfo and MakeMyTrip.

Mr Sanjay Bahl, Chief Operating Officer of MTS India, Delhi and NCR, said that though the company’s focus is data services voice will also play a major role in its plans.

Mr Rozanov added, “We hope to break even in three years by targeting maximum support from data services. It is an ambitious plan but it can be achieved.”

Also at the sidelines, Mr Rozanov said that the company will consider listing itself next year if the market conditions are right. MTS plans to be present in 11 out of the 22 circles within a year.

Mr Rozanov said that its services will be rolled out in Bangalore and Mumbai by the end of the year.
